Course Guidance Programmes:
This is a usual feature of the centre for BSSRO. Courses in arts, science and humanities are exhibited to the students studying in our college. However, the following course guidance is offered:
- Higher studies after graduation in Indian Universities
- Higher studies after graduation in Indian Universities like Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Hamdard University, Banaras Hindu University, Jamia Millia University, etc.,
- Higher studies after graduation in Foreign Universities in U.K., U.S.A., Australia, Singapore, etc.,
- Research position in Institutes ,research labourites and Universities in India / world .
This field provides the knowledge, understanding and skills that are essential for today's professional guidance counsellors. This specially designed program of study allows students to develop competencies as professional guidance counsellors for employment in schools, BSIMT colleges, agencies, or as private practitioners. The program focuses on:
- developing counselling competencies
- understanding career development and education across the life-span
- linking assessment practices to instructional interventions
- understanding ethical behaviour and practices
- developing comprehensive guidance programs
- Participating in guidance and counselling practicum placement.
Employment Opportunities
Guidance Counsellor within Schools, BSIMT Colleges, Community Agencies, Private Practice. A Master of Educational Studies (Guidance and Counselling) or its equivalent is the minimal standard required by Education Queensland and the independent system for teachers who are seeking to be employed as school counsellors (guidance officers). This program is accredited by the Queensland Guidance and Counselling Association, the professional association for school counsellors.
The career planning process is a continuous cycle with three parts:
- Knowing yourself- self assessment
- Exploring careers- learn about occupations and education requirements
- Job search- learning job searching skills
